Thomas H. West

Tom is a management consultant, educator/trainer and engineer.

As president of Cardinal Point Learning Systems, Inc., Tom provides training evaluation, design, development, and implementation services. He also serves as the Managing Director of The Søliv Group, LLC, an international consortium of management consultants specializing in values-based leadership using the "Dare to Kiss the Frog" methodology. Tom's clients range from large (Fortune 50) corporations to one-person operations.

Tom holds a BS in Mathematics and a Masters of Education. He was a commissioned officer in the US Navy Submarine Service. He was certified by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a Senior Nuclear Reactor Operator Instructor. Tom is a member of ASTD (formerly the American Society for Training & Development). He serves on the board the Chicago Chapter of ASTD as director of Community Services. He is also on the faculty of CC-ASTD's Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI). Tom is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Institute of Management Consultants, and the Professional Reactor Operators Society.

Tom holds the rank of nidan (second-degree black belt) in Seido Karate, and also trains in Kajukenbo, an eclectic chinese martial art. He teaches children and adult karate, and self-defense & empowerment programs at Thousand Waves Martial Arts & Self-Defense Center, NFP.
